Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah popularly known as Lil Win has denied promoting marijuana on stage, saying he was completely misunderstood and stopped before he could bring his message home.
He however apologised to Ghanaians for the misunderstanding of his act, saying if the act did not go down well then he is sorry.
The comedian was reported have promoted marijuana at the Ghana Meets Naija concert at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday night.
During Lil Win’s comedy act at the event, he said he had marijuana, and described it as the best cure for headache and other ailments.
But before he could explain further, Lil Win was interrupted by D.J Black who was obviously not too happy about the act.
After the act, Lil Win has received a lot of bashing from the public.
Speaking on Monday with Ohemaa Woyeje on Adom FM’s mid-morning show “Work and Happiness”, Lil Win said he did not intend to promote marijuana but his act was interrupted and he was forced off stage before he could finish it.
He said what he had in the plastic bag was not ‘weed’ but rather talcum powder, pepper and leaves. He said he mentioned ‘weed’ because he wanted to explain to the audience the dangers of using drugs.
After the incident MTN, title sponsors of the concert published a disclaimer on the screens to disassociate itself from the comments made by Lil Win and condemned the act because Lil Win is seen as an MTN Ambassador leading one of the telecom giant’s popular campaigns.
But Lil Win expressed his disappointment in the way the organizers of the show rushed to stop him on stage and also to condemn his act without allowing him to explain.
He has however called on Ghanaians to forgive him for the wrong impression the start of his act created, insisting that he did not intend to promote marijuana on stage.
He said he is a God-fearing man and it will be disastrous for him to endorse marijuana.
He has therefore urged his fans to continue to support him and look forward to more interesting shows from him.
